A Surf Ocean-Inspired Luxury First Birthday in Orange County by Dee Rosse of Matte Motif

When Marissa came to us for Sebastian’s first birthday, she wanted more than just a party — she wanted a luxury experience that felt coastal, whimsical, and unforgettable. Hosted at the Irvine Spectrum Marriott, this Full Motif Package celebration welcomed 95 guests for a day of elevated design, curated rentals, and playful activations.

Dee Rosse of Matte Motif handled the whole event design and planning process, including specialty rentals — from custom gifting and favors to activity stations and vendor coordination. Dee Rosse created the design direction, including balloon styling, signage, and color palette, ensuring every element felt intentional and cohesive.Rossell Studios their parent brand handled Fabrication and Activations at the big festivities.

The Experience

Guests entered through a styled archway into a world of surf, play, and celebration. Children enjoyed the bounce house and soft play zone while adults mingled in curated lounges and styled picnic seating. Custom signage, balloon garlands, and a paint activation added layers of personalization, while the Hat Bar became a standout interactive element.

From start to finish, Matte Motif provided complete event management — design, planning, rentals, and coordination — so Marissa and her family could simply enjoy the day.
